Fresh Off the Runway: The Best Model Swag of the Season

Getting to try clothes before they hit stores has always been one of the perks of being a model, but this season, girls are taking pieces straight off the runway and on to the streets. With model street style a lucrative cottage industry of its own, designers have been gifting girls with attention-grabbing fall accessories. At Loewe models walked away with the label’s new Barcelona Bag, a structured purse with a triangular clasp that comes in a variety of leathers. Luxurious runway versions featured crocodile, python and ostrich, but models Harleth Kuusik, Maartje Verhoef, Mica Arganaraz and Alexandra Elizabeth have been spotted wearing equally appealing leather versions all around Paris.

Phoebe Philo’s Celine bags are already a model staple, but the lucky girls who graced Philo’s catwalk went home with variations on the Ring bag. Show opener Frederikke Sophie Falbe was the first to be spotted wearing hers off-duty, but keep your eyes peeled for girls wearing the versatile carryall.

Iana Godina, Yana Van Ginneken, Sung Hee Kim, Elisabeth Erm, and Jing Wen wearing Burberry scarves.

Celebrities like Madonna and Rihanna have made headlines for wearing Alexander Wang’s oversized creepers straight off the runway, but the only model to have the privilege is longtime Wang muse, Hanne Gaby Odiele. With nearly 7 years worth of collaborations with Wang, Hanne is the perfect person to bring the glam Goth aesthetic of his fall collection onto the streets. Sometimes the best gifts are also the most useful; Burberry went for the personalized touch, gifting models with monogrammed plaid scarves bearing their initials – smart decision considering the low temperature. Everyone from Sam Rollinson to Sung Hee Kim and Elizabeth Erm reached for the oversized wraps when keeping warm. Likewise, Diesel Black Gold’s studded leather jackets provided Zlata Mangafic, Grace Hartzel and Emmy Rappe with some much-needed cold weather protection.
