Gravures Collection 2015 by Mezue

In the fast, diverse and constantly changing world of fashion we exist these days, fashion trends come and go but what stays evergreen is Retro inspired fashion. Today fashion is about to take a new turn. It is the launch of the Gravures collection by Mezue. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw his look book was- Sick!!. I love this collection so much. It's young, hip, fresh and would definitely look amazing on almost anyone.

I got chatting with the brains behind the collection to try to understand the inspiration behind his work and I was astonished on how simply the inspiration was. So the name Gravures is derived form the French. It simple means prints. This makes the collection speak for itself. Surely the better things come in darker prints and patterns. This collection is basically an expression of prints in suitable designs. The inspiration of the collection is all about retro and prints. Most of the retro wears are based on prints which was a huge inspiration for the designer. I particularly love the simplicity of the retro and print inspired collection designer. I'm sure Nigeria hasn't seen the last of his work.

This is a definite thumbs up to this young, vibrant and  upcoming designer.
I try hard to religiously keep up to date on fashion trends and new collections. Its something I would love to do with ease. In a bid to be more religious, I decided to indulge in attending fashion related events. It was at the Retro Showoff 2015 that I met the host of the event. Who also happens to be the designer of the collection. I found him interesting and welcoming. Its not easy finding super talented people that are equally humble and friendly.

If you're looking to purchase any of his designs or any further enquieres this is his contact below:

Bo-Ho Vibes II

Hey loves, before I start off, I'm pleased to announce that Fashion Redefined by seyi has purchased its own domain and is no longer adenowoseyi.blogspot.com. I can't quite remember how long I have wanted this. I'm so glad it has finally happened. The feeling of having my domain is totally ecstatic. Truth is- I really don't have words to express how I feel. It has been hard, I wouldn't lie. Not enough support and all but I totally appreciate the little I get. It actually got me asking myself- Is there anything I'm not doing right?

I hope my post on how to pack your bags for a day tour was helpful? I got some positive feed back so I'm guessing some people liked it.

I've been recently loving bohemian inspired looks but in all about clean crisp edges and urban  pieces so I don't go for the usual stereotypical bohemian pieces. I've gone with this bohemian look before in this post. When I wore it here, it was more bohemian than now because of my choice of pieces and accessories.
I really love these white shorts. They've basically been my go-to shorts during most tours. They're super comfortable and I can style it up or dress it down to suit the occasion. The down side is that they get easily dirty because of the dust.

The chiffon blouse was kind of a last minute decision. I bought this really cute off shoulder blouse that I planned to pair with the white shorts but I didn't travel with it :(
As for the shoes, I don't really have a choice. Kitengela is extremely dusty and I can't ruin my good shoes for anything in the world so I'm stuck with this black shoes and my red Levis converses but I don't wear them when I'm going to have to walk a long distance. I don't want to ruin them too.
I decided to go with purple lips not sure why but I just had s much love for the lipstick this particular day.

When I was picking out the accessories to pair with this look. I didn't want to look to flashy because the blouse said enough plus I was going ostrich riding and was trying to be careful not to aggravate the animals because of my flashy accessories. I simply went with my round hippie glasses, a floral crown because were all about nature loving, my gold neck braces, some gold bangles and an anklet.

What I love most about bohemian inspire looks is how you can just be personal with your style. If you're into ripped jeans and distress clothes then perfect but if you're in to my mind of style, awesome. Or better still, try playing around with the looks. Try wearing a crisp white blouse with a richly patterned maxi skirt and some knuckle rings. Just have fun with it.

So I'll love to know, would you try out bohemian inspired looks anytime soon? How would you wear your bohemian look? Like mine? Or your own way? Let me know in the comments.

Try as much as possible to have fun this weekend. Much LOVE.

I know, I'm such a big baby. I just had to have somefun and remind myself of what being a child feels like. I shamelessly had fun on this day. It was totally worth it.

Hey there, September: "Think happy, Stay happy"

Hello September, nice to finally meet you.

While writing this post I was relaxed. Basking under the sunshine and enjoying September's cool breeze. So my motivation for September is "Think Happy, Stay happy". Today was kind of a reminisce  of the past year. It has been amazing so far. I got to really understand myself. I've always known that you are a reflection of your thoughts but I haven't worked towards it. I asked my boyfriend once how is it that some people are always happy and smiling and how it seem like they have no worries. He said, its better to have a 'frownie face' and be totally at peace with yourself and happy with who you are than smiling 24/7 and having the ability to kill.
I used to wish I was like those people that smiled a lot but I figured, I don't smile so much but I love myself and am happy with myself. Then I changed my perspective. Think happy, Stay happy because really in the world we are today, with the way things happen and the way changes occurs without warning and most times to your disadvantage, its not to easy to stay positive but its possible.
So this month and the rest of the year is going to be about dwelling on my positive thoughts. Goodbye negativity! Positive vibes only! LoL I hope I'm not becoming a hipster.

I'm going to learn how to love the situations I find myself and learn how to change what I can change.

I'm going to learn how to take more chances and this time on people. I never really try hard when it comes to meeting people and staying in touch. So I'm going to learn how to do that.

Plus I recently discovered that I love sunflowers, red roses and daffodils. Still learning more about flowers.
I'm extremely grateful for how far I've gone because honestly, I didn't think I had the will to go this far (details withheld).

So this was what I wore for the Retro Showoff 2015

Oldies In Retrospect

Hello there, how do you do? I hope you're having a swell week, making valuable use of your time? I’m sure you are. The oldies, all that is a retrospect of the past be it the 60s’, 70s’, 80s’, or 90s’. Most people mix vintage and antique concepts up but don't get it twisted. Not all that is old school is vintage. Some of these blast from the past looks are antique in fact. Let me break it down a bit. Antique items are mostly believed to have been in existence for about a hundred years but vintage items are mostly a decade or two old. Sometimes determining whether a dress is vintage or antique depends on the usefulness of a dress within the present era. For example, A dressing gown made with layers upon layers of clothes, linen, net and steel frames is more towards the 1930s’ which makes it antique but a designer gown made or designed to look like it was made in the 60s’  is vintage.
I did this little research when i was about to write this post. I did the shoot without really thinking through the concept of the post. Now i'm with my laptop, thinking about what i want to name the post and I’m not sure what the post title should be. ‘The good oldies’ was my initial thought but just then I discovered couldn't say if it was a vintage look. So I decided to ask my all knowing, reliable(except for those days when I don't have data or the network is tryna’ disrup’ ma flow) friend- GOOGLE. After much consultation, i discovered that there was a mix up and i fell into the category of those in the mix so i decided to read further.
I’m still not sure what to name the post but i should go with Oldies in Retrospect?: The difference between antiques and vintage. That should do.
The idea for this post was unknowingly given to me by Ayo Omokaroa of Conscious Release. He kept laughing at me when I bought the shorts from Retro addicts saying that I looked like a headmaster from the colonial era and instantly a light bulb lit in my head and I told him I was going to do the post even though he begged me not to. I decided to go with a pair of high waist shorts, a pink neon chiffon shirt, suspenders, my briefcase  inspired bag, my fedora hat, flats and block heels.

Some tips to take note of
When trying vintage inspired looks, try to take risks. The 60s’ through the 90s’ was all about being bold and daring. Mix and match patterns, fabrics and colours.

Be calm when shopping for vintage clothes and assess every inch of the item. Most vintage clothes are thrifted and some of them might be torn or faded. If youre not into that you can try buying from Retro Addicts here or Retro Religion here.

Have fun with the dress and be you. I didn't go too vintage because i love clean cut edges. I picked modern pieces because that's just the kind of person I am. If you're into complicated cuts and patterns then go for it.
Finally, personalize your look, Just own it.

In my opinion this look is super chic and cute if your looking to make a statement or an impression in an event.I hope the post was helpful?  What do you think about it? Yay or Nay? I would love to know your views in the comments below.

Bo-Ho vibes

Hi there!  Been a while. Hope you guys missed me. Well,  If you didn't. I missed you all. Summer is not exactly what I expected. I envisioned my summer after graduation on an island maybe in the Caribbeans' sipping cocktails and just having a swell time.
that's not happening. It's been rainy and I've been working my but off *sigh* (guess that's why it's all in my head).
In that "Fun in the Sun" spirit,  I decided to post something with a little Bo-Ho vibe. I love this look because it's sexy  effortless and easy to pull off.  I love the way the it just fits.  I have two friends that don't even have to try when it comes to being bohemian. (IJenna & Ayo)

Retro Religion

I'm in love with anything vintage. From clothes to accessories, lifestyle, you name it...I'm in love with the 70's or 80's. In fact, I wish I was given birth to in that era but oh well, gotta love where I am.

I decide to do a vintage post because the style is coming back in full force. It has been appearing on runways and clothing line collections. I'm not surprised though... Some things just never die.

I decided to do this post with my really good friend Sharon. She's an amazing fashionista and my reason for loving vintage clothing. People have tried to make me like it but I guess they never pulled it off to me. In fact, I bought the shirt from her and it's an authentic vinthage shirt. If you need her contact just let me know in the comments or send me a mail at adenowoseyi@ymail.com.
With outfits like this, the perfect way to end the day would be to chill at a rooftop jazz and art restaurant.

                                               With Love,
